The SimuRide Home Edition
Q: Can I use the SimuRide Home Edition in my Driving School? A: No, the SimuRide Home Edition is designed to be used by individuals at home only. The Professional SimuRide edition is available to purchase.
Q: What steering wheel can be used with the SimuRide HE? A: Almost any plug & play steering wheel (with 2 or 3 pedals) that can be connected to the PC will work.
The SimuRide Professional Edition
Q: If I purchase the SINGLE monitor Simuride system now, can I upgrade it to the 3-monitor system later for an additional $200? A: Yes, but you would have to send us your license key so that we may reprogram it for 3 monitors.
Q: If I decide to purchase the 3-monitor set-up NOW, could you reduce the price? A: The Simuride price is not negotiable except multiple units (5 and more).
Q: Does the Simuride software work on XBox, Nintendo, or Playstation? A: No, these consoles have different type of processors. To run Simuride, Windows with DirectX (minimum 9.00 version) is required. We will soon offer a version of Simuride that works with lower-end graphics cards, so please check back with us later.
Q: The gas pedal does not perform properly. How can I fix it? A: Please follow the instructions to setup the steering wheel and install all necessary drivers for it.
Q: When I start driving the car takes off very slowly in (D) and if I put it down into (L) it takes off faster; can I increase the acceleration? A: Please check your computer parameters and compare them to our Hardware Specifications. Try adjusting the settings that we have created for low-end processors/built-in graphics cards and other hardware that can have compatibility issues. Please go to Settings/Windowed/Full-Screen and select Full-Screen with Screen Synchronization. If there is no improvement, go to the Settings/3D-Acceleration and select Software-Acceleration. If this option is not available to you, please install the latest update from our Web Site.
Q: What should the resolution be? A: The resolution depends on your monitor size and the resolution your computer supports; therefore, you have many of different resolutions to select from the list provided by Simuride. Ensure that the resolution selected in the simulator is the same as the resolution selected in Windows.
Q: Where is the Skid Control? A: Please install the update that is on the Simuride disc, or download the latest update from our Web Site.
Q: Can the final report be printed? A: At this moment you can print final report with the graph, page by page using Print-Screen only. In our next update available in June 2009, the print option will be enabled and let you print most important information and messages.
Q: What happens when you miss shift or do not double clutch correctly? A: The user will get a message and information will be recorded in the Report as a mistake. Mistakes like forgetting to press clutch twice, not accelerating during downshifting, pressing clutch pedal less than 20% or pressing clutch to the floor (except the first or reverse gear) are considered as the mistake.
Q: Does the stick shift have a high/low range selector like a real semi truck has if it has a 9 or 10 speed transmission? A: To keep our simulator affordable we use the popular and readily available Logitech G-25 steering wheel with the gear shifter that has 6 gears. The idea is to put the student driver on the simulator for his/her first 5 to 10 hours, instead of in a real vehicle, to teach basic manual transmission operation using 3 pedals and H gear shifter. For semi trucks there is an additional function that requires the student to use the double clutching technique, acceleration during downshifting and half clutch, except in first gear and reverse. Using the simulator students can also learn and practice driving a semi truck in city traffic, taking wide turns and backing up to a dock.
Q: How many different scenarios are included? A: You will get 9 different scenarios that can combine with time-of-day and weather conditions to create even more options; moreover, you can combine each of these options with 11 different vehicle types.
Q: Would future upgrades be included in initial purchase price? A: All future Simuride software updates and small upgrades will be included in the initial purchase price.
Q: Is any training available via telephone? A: Yes. If you require additional help, we would be glad to help you.
Q: Do you recommend any particular playseat? A: The seat model depends on your classroom design and the type of school (truck/bus school or small passenger vehicles school).
Q: What is your Return Policy & Warranty? A: To avoid returns we introduced the SIMURIDE Trial-Edition. In the case of malfuntioning software, we offer technical support and replacement, if necessary. For hardware malfunction please contact the manufacturer.
Q: Is SPANISH an option for the report results? A: The Simuride is offered only in English.
Q: What do you mean when you say that the TRIAL version allows for '50 trials'? Does this mean 50 times switching the progam on? Or does it mean 50 times choosing a vehicle? A: 50 trials means 50 rides; selecting a different vehicle or a different terrain is considered as a new ride/trial. You can drive one vehicle on the same terrain for approximately 45 minutes. Then, you can select another vehicle and/or terrain to drive for another 45 minutes. This way you would have completed 2 trials, and have 48 left. As soon as you quite the practise, it is considered 1 trial. The trial edition is ideal for customers who want to test our simulator before they spend $800 for the full professional version, or for private users who will likely only need 50 trials.
Q: I own a CDL school in Virginia. I would like to know the cost of a full set up for CDL training on the simulator (all the necessary products and software). Your web site sell seats, steering wheels and monitors and software all separate. I don't know if that is to keep the customer from sticker shock. Can you give me a full price if I decided to implement this tool as part of our curriculum training? A: To run the simulator SimuRide in your facility you would need PC and the steering wheel set. The rest of accessories and upgrades are additional, not necessary; therefore, they are listed separately. Some people even have the steering wheel set already. You can build your simulator slowly, beginning with one monitor edition set up on the office desk. The basic one monitor SimuRide software costs $600 plus $299 the steering wheel with pedals and gear shifter. To upgrade it to 3 monitor edition you would have to pay additional $200 for software plus hardware (extended graphic card to connect additional 2 monitors or TVs or wall projectors). You can set the SimuRide on the student desk and use the regular chair. The cheapest option is SimuRide Trial edition (limited to 50 trials) software for $100. The most expensive is 3 displays full edition SimuRide software with all upgrades and updates, plus steering wheel set, plus extended graphic card, professional simulator cockpit with the seat for total of $4000. Shipping is not included. The cost of the computer would be $500 plus 3 monitors for another $500. The total would be approximately $5000 if you do not have a computer. We do not sell computers or monitors. Instead of monitors you can use TVs or wall projectors.
Road Rules & CDL CDs
Q: Does your CD-ROM include tests similar to those offered in Exam Centres? A: Yes, besides the study option it includes Interactive Tests, comparable to official ones where questions are randomly selected from a database that contains hundreds of questions.
Q: Does the Road Rules - US & Canada Driving Test replace a drivers manual? A: While a paper manual is not included with the Road Rules - US & Canada Driving Test, information that is typically covered in a driver's education manual is covered in the CD. You might also want to check with your state's or provinces authority for any state/province-specific driving rules.
Q: Are the contents of 2003 version still valid in year 2009? A: 2003 version was only available on-line and the password to update it was emailed. All CD-ROMs from the end of 2004 contain the UPDATE option; however, it updates only the links to the websites of all 50 States and 13 Provinces/Territories' official Departments and Ministries of Transportation, Maps, Weather, and Road Conditions. We systematically update our web sites and links, which will lead you to recent changes in road regulations in your State/Province. Even though most of the Road Rules are valid, we strongly suggest that you use the latest edition of our software.
Q: Does your application terminate after certain number of trials or after specific period of time? A: No, it doesn't terminate at all.
Q: Does your ROAD RULES program prepare me fully for a driving exam? A: Yes, but indirectly; it includes information very helpful to pass a Road Exam.
Q: What are your shipping/handling costs for one CD-ROM? A: It is FREE for continental US & Canada.
Q: Do I have to pay taxes? A: Only residents of Canada and Ontario have to pay Taxes.
Q: Your prices are in USD or CAD? A: To make life easier, again it depends on your residency; for US buyers it is in US $ and for Canadian buyers it is in CAN $.
Q: Does your software run on all Windows Operating Systems? A: It depends on the program. SIMURIDE requires Windows XP or newer. All other programs require Windws 98 or newer.
Q: I have Windows installed on my computer, but your program doesn't work? A: Except Simuride, all of our software is protected against copying by Micro vision Corporation. As a result of that, there can be two reasons why you cannot open our application: Micro vision does not support older versions of Windows than Windows 98, or you are not a computer administrator (you have to be logged as an administrator or must have computer administrator rights granted as a user). If you are a home user of your PC, there should not be a problem, as you are an owner/administrator, but if you are using a computer at work or school, you may not have administrator rights. Many companies' or libraries' computers are connected to a network protected by administrator; you are there only as a user and you will be not able to run our earlier (before 2007) application. However, you can always ask your administrator for a higher privilege level.
Q: I am located in US and 8 days ago I ordered one of your CD-ROMs; Why haven't I received it yet? A: Please wait few more days; usually it takes up to 12 business days. Most of our software is shipped from Canada and sometimes (randomly) the US Custom Officers take shipments for examination. If this is the case, delivery can be delayed for a week or two. We thank you for your patience.
Q: Do I have to purchase one 'US & Canada Driving Test' CD-ROM for California and another CD-ROM for Ontario? A: No, one CD-ROM contains rules from all States and Provinces; they are listed on the initial page and your task is to select one State or Province you are interested in.
Q: Making an order, do I have to specify Spanish Language, if I like to practice 'US & CANADA DRIVING TEST' in Spanish? A: No, each 'Road Rules - US & CANADA DRIVING TEST' CD-ROM is offered in 10 languages (English , French , Spanish , Polish, Russian , Arabic, Chinese ( 2 versions) , Japanese and German) .
Q: Is your CDL Manual software valid for Nevada State? A: Yes, the road and safety rules are almost identical in all States and Provinces. Truck/Bus drivers relocate across the whole of the North American Continent; therefore the rules must be similar. Air Brakes functionality, Hazardous Material handling, or Pre Trip Inspection cannot be different. This Software is good for all States & Provinces.
Q: Does the Commercial Driver's License Manual CD-ROM contain Air Brake and Pre Trip Inspection? A: Yes, besides the general part, the CD-ROM includes all endorsements such as: Air Brakes, Passenger/Busses, Combination Vehicle, Doubles, Triples, Hazardous Material, Tank Vehicle, and Pre Trip Vehicle Inspection. In spite of the fact that different States and Provinces name Driver's License categories differently (word, letters, or numbers), the main idea of the groupings is the same.
Q: Do I have to go to Truck Driving School to be able to pass written exam? A: No, in most cases knowing our CD-ROM is enough to successfully pass a test. Nevertheless we strongly recommend that you take classes with an instructor, who will not only teach you the rules but also gives you a lot of additional information which will be helpful for you on the road. Our software alone doesn't make you an excellent trucker, it teaches you necessary rules and skills to pass required exams to obtain a Commercial Driver's License. Of course, if Truck/Bus Driving School is not affordable or accessible for you, our CDL Manual software is only the option you have.
Q: Is this Driver's Educational product an interactive CD ROM? A: Yes, instead of reading a paragraphs, students simply read the material in a question and answer format . This way the user gets specific information related to subject matter tested on actual exams. This software works more like a Computer Based Test (CBT) and also is easy to navigate.
Q: How would I know which mistakes I made on my test, your software just gives the final result? A: The software has been designed in two modes: STUDY and TEST. The test is designed exclusively for testing yourself on the knowledge of road rules. It is during the study mode that you could actually check which questions you made mistakes on. Hint for CDL users: There is a counter on the bottom left on the screen during the exam mode that increases should your answer be correct, or else it stays the same. Do not confuse this with the question counter at the upper right corner.
Q: Does the ROAD RULES CD have audio? Does it read the questions to the student as I have a non English-speaking friend who is taking the test? A: There is some audio implemented in the present edition of this program, but it does not support the full audio elements. 2007 version was designed keeping people with reading limitations or affected with light Dyslexia under consideration offering simple questions & answers in the form and short sentences. The next version of this interactive CD to be launched in 2008 would include the audio feature where the questions & answers would be read for the user.
Q: Ive been driving for a long time. Why should I study Road Rules - US & Canada Driving Test now? A: This software works more like a Driver Improvement Program, renewing your driving skills for todays traffic. Even if you havent been involved in a collision in over 40 years, it may be time to review your driving skills. With aging changes occur in your memory and most of the traffic laws may be modified. You can learn to adjust your skills to compensate for those changes.
